A Food I Have Never Tasted Before

It is quite surprising that a food i never tasted until now is pretty simple, Oatmeal. Eventhough,  my mother make oatmeal as her daily breakfast, for me i would never want to try it. when it is still in the packaging it looks fine, but when you mix it with milk or water and cooked it, it looks so sticky and astringent . it really does not appetite me.
As i mentioned before in my profile, i have been changing my food preference into something healthy, i have been reading a lot about healthy foods that have good nutrients for bodies. and one of them is Oatmeal. Oatmeal contain fibre, lower cholesterol, contain antioxidant, etc. now, i dare myself to try oatmeal for the first time and try to include it in my daily foods intake.

Rather than making usual oatmeal like mixing it with milk or water and then pop it to microwave or stove, i make it a little different , where i followed the recipe from google, that is soaked oatmeal overnight in almond milk and yoghurt. and to make the taste more savoury i add my favourite fruits and nuts as a final touch.
Left to Right: Pecan nuts, Vanilla Yoghurt, Almond milk, Avocado, and Bluebberries.

4 tbsp of oatmeal and 3 tbsp of yoghurt

Add avocado and blueberries on top of yoghurt

Final result: Pour the milk and put some pecan on top

As a result, even though the appearance look messy , the taste was so nutty, juicy, succulent and rich in fruits flavour, while the texture is a little slimy because of the yoghurt and avocado. Because i put it in the fridge for a night, the temperature was cold, but it still enjoyable.  and about the taste, there is a sweetness that come from my vanilla yoghurt, tangy comes from blueberries , crunchy that i get from the pecan nut, and tasty from the taste of avocado.

In the end, i am totally fall in love with this food, and will eat it in every breakfast i had. I felt nervous and kind of excited when try it for the first time since i am so particular with the taste of foods, but it was worth it. I would like to recommended this type of cooking an oatmeal for you all who does not like oatmeal or sees oatmeal so sticky, trust me it feel really different when you do it in this way. from this experience i learn healthy foods does not always taste bad, it depend on how you make it, just a little creation and mixing it with something you like will always bring something different in your mind, i would like to try kiwi as my next project, since it is the second food i never have a courage to taste. overall, i might not like sticky and slimy foods, but the taste of soaked oatmeal is incredibly good, it goes beyond my expectation.
